apartment amenity revitalization
info: Under contract with a national apartment development and management group, this project took an older, overgrown and under-utilized series of residential amenity areas and re-visioned them in a broader context and introduced cohesive design elements and strategic interventions. A major design move took a central, muddy, unusable runoff area and created an interactive community amenity and gathering space by formalizing the channel, adding adjacent active and passive recreation areas, and creating opportunities for enhanced planting through the strategic removal of older damaged and/or dying canopy tees—thereby allowing enhanced sunlight penetration. Additional amenity features include a formalized dog park, children’s play area, outdoor grilling/gathering areas, and an overlook at the outfall of the surface drainage channel into an existing stormwater pond.
