{"id":7702,"date":"2018-05-22T15:25:49","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T21:25:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/osteopathic.org\/?page_id=7702"},"modified":"2018-06-01T10:10:49","modified_gmt":"2018-06-01T16:10:49","slug":"2017-biom-international-seminar","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/osteopathic.org\/about\/aoa-events\/2017-biom-international-seminar\/","title":{"rendered":"2017 BIOM International Seminar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BIOM program included a day-long seminar on Oct. 7 featuring osteopathic physicians and others presenting on the development of global osteopathic medical programs, from graduate education to research and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, BIOM partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/docareintl.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DOCARE<\/a>, the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (<a href=\"https:\/\/studentdo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOMA<\/a>), and the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacom.org\/ome\/councils\/aacom-councils\/cosgp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COSGP<\/a>) to mount a competition with three divisions and a poster event.<\/p>\n<h3>BIOM poster session<\/h3>\n<p>The BIOM Poster Session allowed students who have submitted research abstracts to the BIOM Research Abstract Competition to display posters on those research projects. Students also were allowed to submit posters on global outreach projects they&#8217;ve conducted. This event is noncompetitive and open to all students and residents who have completed eligible research and outreach work.<\/p>\n<p>First-place prizes of $750 and second-place prizes of $500 were awarded in each category, as well as grand prize of $1,500 to the top overall entrant.
