National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week celebrates nearly 200,000 osteopathic physicians (DOs) and medical students who bring a distinctive whole-person philosophy to caring for millions of patients across the nation. This year’s NOM Week theme, “Honoring our Past, Building our Future<\/strong>,” recognizes the 150th anniversary of osteopathic medicine<\/a>. First established in 1874, the osteopathic profession has evolved through the years to become one of the fastest-growing segments of health care, making up more than 11% of physicians and 28% of medical students in the U.S. today.<\/p>\n
