In conjunction with the seminar, BIOM sponsored a global health competition open to all U.S. osteopathic medical students and resident physicians. Schools\/programs had to review and attest to approval of each submission. Research projects also needed institutional review board (IRB) approval. See the <a href=\"https:\/\/osteopathic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019-biom-competition-overview.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BIOM Competition Overview<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Prizes<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>In each of the categories, there were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One first-place prize of $750 plus a chance to present your project at the BIOM International Seminar.<\/li>\n<li>One second-place prize of $500.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, there was one grand prize to the top overall entrant.
