The three organizations agreed in March 2017 to provide the AOA restricted authority to extend the AOA accreditation date in order to allow any remaining residents in such programs to complete training in an accredited program and advance to board eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>A small number of programs were not ACGME accredited by July 1, 2020. The AOA, through the Program and Trainee Review Council, will continue to monitor and accredit those programs. Email us at <a href=\"mailto:postdoc@osteopathic.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">postdoc@osteopathic.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Education Councils<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/osteopathic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/boe-handbook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bureau of Osteopathic Education<\/a>\u00a0(BOE) studies the full continuum of osteopathic medical education and makes recommendations to the AOA Board as to how to improve osteopathic medical education and the policies that support educational accreditation and certification programs.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/osteopathic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/ptrc-handbook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Program and Trainee Review Council<\/a> (PTRC) is the final authority for the accreditation of AOA training programs, based upon recommendations from the educational evaluating committees of osteopathic specialty colleges.
